Flutter Entertainment has recorded a non-cash impairment of $873 million against its Brazilian business after the country’s September measure halted regulated fixed-odds betting. The company’s third-quarter results also show weaker sports outcomes in the United States and international markets, prompting a reduction in its full-year forecast.
Revised financial outlook
Flutter lowered its 2026 revenue guidance midpoint from $17.91 billion to $17.61 billion. Its adjusted EBITDA forecast was reduced from $2.655 billion to $2.495 billion. Third-quarter revenue increased 2% year on year to $3.87 billion, while adjusted EBITDA fell 25% to $360 million and the group reported a net loss of $1.15 billion.
The impairment reflects the reduced carrying value of Brazilian assets, rather than the same measure as the $70 million revenue impact previously estimated for the remainder of 2026. Flutter has closed Betfair Brazil and said Betnacional remains its only brand in the country, with operations on hold.
Why it matters
The figures underline how regulatory disruption in a major market can affect group-level investment, marketing budgets and expansion plans. Affiliates and suppliers with Brazil exposure should distinguish between a temporary operating pause, asset write-downs and any future decision on market re-entry.
